Red River District

Downtown’s Red River District is located just across the Clyde Fant Parkway from the Eldorado Resort Casino and the Red River.

The Louisiana Purchase Plaza, commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase, is located here. Ten columns that support the Texas Street bridge  were decorated as part of the project.

The work focuses on the distinct cultures that helped to define Northwest Louisiana—African American, Indian, French, Spanish and Cajun; the three contributing artists for the columns came from Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Shreveport.

The Texas Street Bridge provides a shady area perfect for catching an afternoon breeze or listening to live music. Nicky’s Mexican Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Friday and Fatty Arbuckle’s Bar is open late nights with adult beverages and the best in live music.

CoHabitat, downtown Shreveport’s trendy co-working space, is under construction now and will be taking over the space just to the east of Nicky’s restaurant. CoHab will still be open to new entrepreneurs and will have an additional feature, a full commercial kitchen.

The Red River District is owned by the City of Shreveport, which, which has plans to rent additional spaces and encourage District programming and activities.

The property manager for the Red River District is Lea Hall Properties. Contact them for more information on spaces and rental rates. They can be reached at 318-221-1231.
