The Shadow Feminine Artist Reception

Hosted by The Agora Borealis and Addy Art

The Agora Borealis’ newest exhibition “THE SHADOW FEMININE” is a series of paintings exploring the female archetypes created by artist Rachel Addy. “THE SHADOW FEMININE” is now on view through April 29th, 2017. A reception honoring the artist and her work will be held Thursday, April 27th from 5-8pm. Light hors d’oeuvres and libations will be served.

Come delve deeper into the mysteries of the feminine archetypes with Rachel Addy’s series featuring such female figures as Medusa, Athena, Queen of Hearts, and even Catwoman. Addy uses drips, expressive brush strokes and varying layers of paint in order to create depth and details that can only be appreciated by veiwing the works in person. “I wanted to manifest these women on to a material form and create an atomsphere of pause and reflection in order to evoke an awareness of the viewers own shadow,” says Addy. This series of archetypal women are meant to represent the powerful duality within a woman’s wild heart.

Rachel Addy was born in Arlington, TX and moved to Shreveport at the age of 15. A graduate of Captain Shreve High School, Addy is now a painter and graphic designer. Her work has been shown at Bears on Fairfield, Nobel Savage, the Central Artstation, and Artspace. Addy has done design work for many local artists, the Krew of Highland and the Agora Borealis’ fashion shows. You can find out more about Rachel Addy on Facebook at Addy Art.
