LANO Institute: Grant Writing

Hosted by Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations (LANO)

Individuals will be trained on organizational and management strategies to find, apply for, and win federal, foundation, and corporate grants.

This training provides participants with the opportunity to learn how to write a competitive grant application in a small group with an interactive setting.

Specific subjects are Significance; Innovation; Approach; and Budget.

The training will be led by Barbara W. Auten, CFRE, is the Executive Director of Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area where she brings her passion to serve families and professionals coping with the disease. She received the John W. Barton Excellence in Nonprofit Management Award from the Baton Rouge Area Foundation in 2013. She was named one of the Most Influential Women in Business by the Baton Rouge Business Report in 2012. She started her career in fundraising as a volunteer for several nonprofit organizations. After years of successful fund raising and grant writing, she became the Director of Development at Christ the King Parish School in Terrytown, LA. Following Katrina and a move to Baton Rouge, she was employed by Alzheimer’s Services and became the Executive Director in 2008. She received the Certified Fund Raising Executive distinction in 2011. She is a past-president of Association for Fundraising Professionals Greater Baton Rouge Chapter. She has 20+ years of professional experience and 37 years of volunteer and board experience in nonprofit organizations and fundraising.
