The Shreveport Railroad Museum, co-located at 142 North Common with the Shreveport Water Works Museum, is planning a celebration January 30, 2022 to debut their new HO model railroad. The new model train layout features a scale buildings that would have been downtown in the 1940s – 60s, and took roughly six months to complete. A big Grand Re-Opening that will feature live music, food trucks and history talks is planned for Saturday, May 13, as part of National Train Day.

The HO model is just the latest improvement made by the non-profit and totally volunteer Red River Valley Railroad Historical Society, Inc. This small group of energetic folks completely remodeled a long-vacant building on the grounds of the water works to house the museum, and have been making improvements to it ever since.
