Shreveport’s Downtown Historic District building receives highest connectivity

SHREVEPORT, LA., NOVEMBER 17, 2015 – AT&T and Shreveport community leaders announced today that the Beaird Tower in the downtown historic district has been designated AT&T Fiber Ready. That means that tenants of Beard Tower have access to the AT&T fiber-based high speed services they need to improve productivity and connect with the world. The Beaird Tower is the first site in the City of Shreveport and Caddo Parish to receive AT&T’s Fiber Ready designation, and is the second AT&T Fiber Ready site in Northwest Louisiana.

Beaird Tower is located in the heart of the central business district of Shreveport and within walking distance of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, Shreveport’s main library, commercial banks, law offices, printers, private clubs, the downtown YMCA, United States Courthouse, Caddo Parish Courthouse, Shreveport Government Plaza, Shreveport Convention Center and the riverfront entertainment district. Some of the tenants in the tower include a bank, software developers and logistics company where the availability and dependability of a fiber network is vital to their daily operations.

“AT&T is proud to highlight the Beaird Tower as one of many places across Louisiana where AT&T’s fiber infrastructure is in place and ready to help local businesses drive growth and job creation,” said Sonia Perez, president of AT&T Louisiana. “Each and every day, our employees are turning our billions of dollars of investment into high-speed Internet for consumers and businesses across Louisiana, and those investments are possible in large part because of the smart, pro-investment policies, championed at the local and state levels by Council Chairman Jeff Everson, Shreveport Mayor Ollie Tyler, and former mayor and returning State Representative Cedric B. Glover, and because of the pro-business pursuits of local leaders.”

“More good things are happening downtown,” says Downtown Development Authority Executive Director Liz Swaine. “This designation makes it even easier for entrepreneurs and businesses

interested in locating and attracting more employees to the historic city center to do so. Downtown becomes an even more exciting and functional place to live and work!”

“In today’s world, connectivity is vital to businesses of every type, so I’m excited to see this valuable asset brought to areas of District B where the revitalization of downtown Shreveport is important to my constituents,” said Jeff Everson, Shreveport City Council Chairman (District B). “When a business is considering a new location, company leadership considers transportation infrastructure, ease of access to utilities, quality of the local workforce, and the presence of fiber optics and high-speed communications infrastructure.”

“Having access to the most advanced broadband communications infrastructure and capacity in our building is vital to our tenants who are creating a vibrant and competitive knowledge-based local workforce,” stated Meredith Cassell, Vintage Realty. “This new partnership with AT&T through the Fiber Ready designation is important to growing and diversifying our local economy and helps us stand apart from other downtown office buildings.”
