After a one-two-three punch in which ‘super regional’ banks Chase, Regions and Capital One consolidated and abandoned downtown branches, comes word that Citizens National Bank is expanding their already sizeable presence in Beaird Tower, 330 Marshall St. The ground floor is home to the bank branch and business bankers, the entire 4th floor includes bank operations, audit and one of the loan group divisions and the recently acquired square footage on the 5th floor is home to the Executive Suite, which includes an office for Citizens National Bank President & CEO Jason Smith. All told, Citizens National Bank’s footprint in Beaird Tower has increased to 28,224 SF.

Smith believes the expansion is important to show that the bank continues to be committed to downtown and the businesses here. Says Smith, “We recognize the growth opportunities being Downtown presents.  Our involvement in the business community compliments many of the initiatives taking place in Shreveport’s center.  We are passionate about the success of Northwest Louisiana  and look forward to doing more than our fair share in Downtown Shreveport.”

Vice President/Business Banker Kim McGuirt will soon be relocating downtown and is thrilled about her move. McGuirt has spent most of her banking career downtown, but after a brief sojourn to the Citizens National branch on East 70th Street, is returning, to an office in Beaird Tower. McGuirt says Citizens NB is investing in their plans for the future. “While other banks have chosen to exit the downtown market, Citizens National Bank has actually increased our investment downtown. When recently faced with expansion options for our bank, our executive management team chose to increase our investment in downtown office space on Marshall Street versus building new real estate in outlying areas  of Shreveport or Bossier.”

McGuirt stresses that Citizens National Bank stands ready to work with developers and investors looking to bring business to downtown, and to rehab and repurpose downtown’s stock of available buildings. “With a legal lending limit of $19Million per customer, Citizens has both the capacity and resources to locally make sizeable loan decisions and to service the lending and depository needs that resulted from those decisions,” she says.

We welcome a larger and more robust Citizens National Bank to downtown!
