1999: Best Movie Year Ever: The Blair Witch Project

This month we’re going to party like it’s 1999. Using Brian Raftery’s book, Best. Movie. Year. Ever. How 1999 Blew Up the Big Screen, we’re going to revisit four films from this landmark year and took a look at why these films are worth revisiting 20 years later. Each film will feature an introduction from RFC executive director Meghan Hochstetler. You can get the book and read along with us, or just show up and enjoy the movie!

In 1999, audiences had no idea what they were in for when they walked into what many believed was a documentary made up of actual footage left behind when three film students went into the woods to investigate the local legend of the Blair Witch … and never came out. Horror, 1999, 81 min., R.
