With 17 Gold records, 29 chart hits, two Grammy Awards, and more than 30 million records, JOHNNY RIVERS continues to perform his big hits like “Secret Agent Man,” “Memphis,” “Maybelline,” “Mountain of Love,” “Midnight Special,” “Seventh Son” and so many beloved others.
Rivers grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and met Shreveport guitar legend James Burton in 1958 on the Louisiana Hayride. Burton took one of Rivers’ songs, “I’ll Make Believe,” to Ricky Nelson, who recorded it.
By 1966, with numerous hit albums and singles on Imperial Records, Rivers founded Soul City Records and Rivers Music Publishing. Over the years he has produced many groups and top hits.
