Unified Development Code, Phase II

In May 2015, the Shreveport | Caddo Metropolitan Planning Commission completed Phase I of the proposed Unified development Code (UDC) by releasing the first draft of the UDC.  The purpose of that draft was to receive questions, comments and feedback from the citizens of our community over an eight (8) month period of time. Pressing forward into January 2016, the project is now embarking on Phase II, which entails the publishing of the second draft of the UDC, as well as displaying a proposed zoning map for the planning area. We are still seeking public comments about the revised draft and the proposed zoning map.

The objective of this message is to invite you to review the second draft and to evaluate the proposed zoning map.  Each is available for the public review and comment at the official UDC website, www.shreveportcaddoudc.com. If you prefer to look at the proposed zoning map at a larger scale, the MPC has set up the following Display and Comment Stations for your convenience:

Government Plaza – 505 Travis Street, 1st floor lobby; 1/6/16 – 2/19/16; 8 am-5 pm daily.
Shreveport Convention Center – 400 Caddo Street, 1st floor; 1/11/16 – 1/24/16; 8 am-5 pm daily; and during numerous events after hours (Mardi Gras Balls, Simple Church, etc).
Shreve Memorial Library – Main Branch (Downtown Shreveport), 424 Texas St.; 01/25/16 – 01/31/16; 8 am-5 pm daily

While we believe the proposed map gets us closer to what the community wants, it is still an evolving concept. Between now and the spring, the MPC will be refining versions of both the map and the second draft based on comments from residents, businesses and community stakeholders.
