Peter and the Wolf

Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet announces a special community outreach performance of the short ballet Peter and the Wolf choreographed by SMB Artistic Director Kendra Meiki. SMB’s Senior Apprentice Company will headline the performance.The corps de ballet includes members of SMB’s Senior and Junior Companies and “Chance to Dance” participants.

Peter and the Wolf marks the stage debut of 43 special young dancers from J.S. Clark and Forest Hill Elementary Schools. These 2nd-4th graders are participating in the fourth year of the “Chance to Dance” outreach project created by SMB and the Volunteers of America’s LightHouse program. During the fall of 2015, these students began classical ballet training with SMB and started working on choreography for their Peter and the Wolf performance. They’ll join SMB’s talented dancers onstage in Peter and the Wolf and will experience first-hand the thrill of performing for an audience in a professional-quality production. The “Chance to Dance” project is generously funded this year by the Community Foundation of North Louisiana, the Shreveport Regional Arts Council, and the Beaird Family Foundation.

General admission tickets are $10 for adults and FREE for children 12 and under. General admission tickets are only available at the door prior to the performance.
