February Art Live!
Art Live! is a fun and creatively competitive event happening at our favorite coffee bar once a month! Join us as we welcome local talent to battle it out – paint style!
Each live painter must create a painting inspired by the monthly theme. Midway through the competition, the artists will be given a “challenge” that they must overcome to complete their masterpiece.
Theme: ***AFRO-FUTURISM***
“Afrofuturism is a literary and cultural aesthetic that combines elements of science fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, Afrocentrism, and magic realism with non-Western cosmologies in order to critique not only the present-day dilemmas of people of color, but also to revise, interrogate, and re-examine the historical events of the past. Afrofuturism addresses themes and concerns of the African diaspora through a technoculture and science fiction lens.”
WE INVITE YOU TO VOTE ON YOUR FAVORITE ARTIST! A winner is chosen each month, and must defend his/her title at the next Art Live! event. Winner also gets the opportunity to show their work at Bon Temps Coffee Bar until the next winner is chosen.
