The Art of Sam Rigling Exhibition Opening

Hosted by Shreveport Common and 2 others

An exhibition of Sam Rigling’s paintings from the collection of Betty Black.
This exhibition opens during the November Art Walk and contains nudity, parental supervision advised.

Shreveport artist Sam Rigling, 1921-2013, said he couldn’t remember when he wasn’t drawing or painting. A self-taught artist, he had nor formal instruction but through many visits to art galleries, museums, art shows and most importantly spending much time doing. Sam developed his own expressionist style creating figure compositions.

Many of Sam’s paintings exhibit an undercurrent of humor, depicting small fragments of the “human comedy”. His paintings often depict bar scenes, conversation or parties. Rigling considered himself a serious artist, and painted as many as 25 paintings a year.

See Sam’s work during the month of November at the Central ARTSTATION at 801 Crockett St.
