Join Ron Smith, local artist, on a journey to experience his work as we travel across Shreveport for a one night only artist exhibition.
This event is a tour of two locations (it will BEGIN at Southern University Museum, 610 Texas Street, and we’ll travel to the Agora Borealis), guided by Ron himself, for collectors, friends, and anyone who likes a story, and will be an immersive and different way to experience an artist’s artwork, as a journey from one point to another. Each location will have food and music tailored to the artwork seen and spoken about, with guest speakers who collect Ron’s work and celebrate his journey with him.
AS FOR ME
Sharing this journey with you comes from a place of solitude, humility, joy and a thought process that evolved because of the environment. Most people who know me would quickly tell you that I often repeat these words “you are the sum total of your life experiences”. There would be similar quotes throughout this guided tour that explains deeply how I and why I process things the way I do.
Though not always pretty or what I had imagined in my own mind, I wouldn’t change my upbringing, my life, my friends, and especially my family, for anything in this world. This exhibition’s title is how I try to navigate my life…knowing my thoughts are my thoughts.
By sharing with you, it’s the way I serve to make sure that the community that I was born into, can use tragedies to fuel triumphs. I believe in what transparency brings to the people I’m in close proximity to, and my life can positively or negatively affect others. Some stories will resonate with you, and some won’t. Grab those do, and share with some you know the ones that don’t. Remember, what doesn’t infect you (heart), will never affect you (mind). I pray you have an open mind as you process the artworks that tell my stories
