Shreveport-Bossier has a wealth of “Hidden Gems” and on this edition of the Be a Fan of Shreveport-Bossier Ambassador Tour, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3, participants will explore many of the wonderful attractions and future developments in the sister cities.
The ambassador program was designed to give those who work in the hospitality industry, as well as interested residents, a chance to learn more about all of the tourism assets in the community. This program is sponsored by the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau.
The cost to attend is $25 and includes transportation, a guided tour around the cities, and lunch. These tours are offered quarterly.
This tour will include an up-close-and-personal look at the new Sanctuary Glass Studio located inside of Red River Brewing Company. Participants will visit the future Shreveport Common and stop to see the progress being made on the recently announced Every Man A King, a distillery/restaurant/event center and soon-to-be popular hangout spot in downtown Shreveport.
A new civil rights attraction is being developed. Few people know that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke at the Old Gallilee Baptist Church. Learn more about plans to bring history to life for future visitors and residents.
The group will have lunch at Cobb Joe Bossier Bar-B-Q, an old Bossier staple and local favorite. This was one of Elvis Presley’s favorite barbecue joints when he was a regular on the Louisiana Hayride. Finally, the group will stop and shop at Tubbs Hardware & Cajun Gifts. It’s one of Shreveport-Bossier’s top Mardi Gras spots throughout the year.
The day will end at the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau, where participants will graduate from the Be a Fan of Shreveport-Bossier Ambassador Program and receive an official pin and certificate!
