Black History Month Film Series: Do the Right Thing

Our Black History Month series is a celebration of black directors. Join us each week in February as we feature work from a different contemporary black director followed by a post-screening discussion on the best in black cinema led by some of our community’s brightest stars.

Spike Lee is headed to the Academy Awards this month for BLACKKKLANSMAN, but we’re going back to the joint that propelled him into stardom. DO THE RIGHT THING takes place on the hottest day of the year on a Brooklyn street where hate and bigotry smolder and build to a breaking point.

Presented by the Caddo Parish Commission and Centenary College of Louisiana‘s Centenary Film Society and coordinated in partnership with Shreveport Urban Film Festival.
