Casino Royale: A 0070th Secret Agent Gala

The Shreveport-Bossier Opera Guild is proud to present a gala and casino night event to celebrate the seventieth season of the Shreveport Opera. The special event, featuring the theme “Casino Royale: A 0070th Secret Agent Gala,” will take place on Friday evening, March 15, 2019, from 7:00-11:00pm, at The Petroleum Club in downtown Shreveport, Louisiana.

“We are proud of the legacy of the Shreveport Opera, which is one of the oldest opera companies in the country,” says Shreveport-Bossier Opera Guild President, Lara Yerger. To celebrate this legacy, gala guests will be treated to an extraordinary evening. “The Petroleum Club will be completely transformed into a festive casino with live music by the band, The Good News, special opera performances, a piano bar, dancing and dining,” says Gala Event Chairman, Elizabeth Comegys. “We know that this will be a night of revelry as we look back on seventy years of success at the Shreveport Opera.”

Not only will this event celebrate the incredible seventieth anniversary of the Shreveport Opera, but the funds raised will help support the Shreveport Opera Express (SOX), a touring group of the Shreveport Opera that conducts nearly 100 educational performances every year for over 50,000 school children in Bossier, Caddo, DeSoto, and Webster Parishes.

“For seventy years, the Shreveport Opera has thrilled our community with over 200 superb productions. These operas have brought musical joy to all in attendance,” says Gala Patron Coordinator, Anne Jenkins. “In addition to these center stage performances, the Opera has established its role in the community through the work of the Shreveport Opera Express (SOX) singers. These talented artists in residence present original Operas to schools in our region and beyond that are designed to both educate and foster a love of music.”

“Many of these schools who benefit from the award-winning children’s program, SOX, have little or no music program,” continues Yerger. “It is important to ensure that the children in our community don’t miss out on these opportunities.”

Ticketed guests will enjoy live music by The Good News, special performances by the SOX artists, a professional casino experience with prizes, an open bar, delicious dining, and more.
