Cultivate Collaborative: Keynote and Q&A
ANNOUNCING THE CULTIVATE COLLABORATIVE KEYNOTE
We are proud to announce that ReForm Shreveport will be hosting its next event: A keynote presentation featuring Cultivate Collaborative of Dallas, TX.
The public keynote will feature professional engineer and sustainability guru Kevin Shepherd along with urban designer and expert city planner Matt Lewis. They will recap the concepts discussed in Strong Towns and Urban3’s research and then explore what it takes to turn ideas into action – to inspire deeper thinking about cultivating strong communities through deliberate choices we can make regarding development, planning and zoning, sandboxing, and tactical urbanism. Kevin and Matt will also participate in a Q&A.
The event is sponsored by Shreveport DDA, Downtown Shreveport Development Corporation, Heliopolis Shreveport News and Culture, Fusiform Design Workshop llc, and Highland Restoration Association.
WHAT WILL BE DISCUSSED
The topics will include ways to improve our planning and zoning system using proven methods to reduce approval times and expand redevelopment, discussions on how to create socially-conscious brick and mortar development which increases value and fosters community buy-in on development projects, cultivate a self-sustaining, democratized economic development community that empowers local entrepreneurs, and help city officials and the public understand the true costs of infrastructure and public services to achieve a more balanced budget.
