In 2018, the important city council representative for Downtown (District B) will be changing. This lunch forum is one of only a few opportunities to find out more about the five people running and to hear their views on a wide variety of Downtown – and City- issues. This race matters a lot. The city council representative in District B is a key liaison between downtown businesses, property owners and residents, and the City of Shreveport. A strong and supportive city council person will help continue to make the case of why downtown matters, and will assist in encouraging city attention to downtown needs and issues. A committed council person will assist in crafting and ensuring common sense laws and will work to balance the needs of property owners, residents, businesses and other important downtown users. This forum, sponsored by the Downtown Shreveport Development Corporation, will feature a wide range of questions intended to give the broadest possible picture of the candidates’ feelings, concerns, plans and governance philosophy. Yes, this is important stuff.
