About our speaker:
Leonard Gresens first became interested in his home state while taking Louisiana History in junior high school. Since then, just about anything to do with the Bayou State will draw his attention.

As a child, Leonard collected coins. Slowly, he began to fill the old, blue Whitman Folders that held his collection. But, with the start of college came the need to sell, and all that remained of his childhood collection was a few odd-ball coins, medals, and a Shreveport Transit Company Student token. The token peaked Leonard’s interest and sparked a new search for more Shreveport tokens.

Concentrating mainly on Caddo, Bossier, Webster and Desoto Parishes, Leonard has acquired numerous tokens used in the trade industry across North Louisiana. Although he doesn’t consider himself an expert, he has become the local, go-to guy when someone needs to identify a token or has a question on the subject. Leonard enjoys talking tokens and travels to many swaps and shows in his spare time.

As the owner of Cornerstone Financial Services and a collector of Shreveport/Bossier memorabilia, Leonard displays his collection in his office. He also collects and catalogues the doubloons of local Mardi Gras krewes and has nearly a complete collection. His token collection is displayed every year at the Ark-La-Tex Coin, Stamp & Card Expo in July. Additionally, he currently serves as President of the Ark-La-Tex Genealogy Association and Treasurer of the Shreveport Coin Club.

Leonard is available to speak to groups about the history, use, and economics of tokens in commerce. He can be reached at 318-221-8888.
