Emmett Hook Center will present the staged production of the popular musical, “Forever Plaid” from March 12-21 in downtown Shreveport. It will be the theater’s first major production in more than a year.

“Forever Plaid” is stylized as a musical revue, written by Stuart Ross with music and lyrics by various artists. The off-Broadway show was first performed in 1989 before going international. Several sequels have spawned from the original production.

The story is set in the 1950s and follows four high school friends who’ve formed the clean-cut, close-harmony group, The Plaids. Unfortunately, as the singers travel to their first major professional gig their lives are tragically cut short in an accident involving a bus full of Catholic school girls.

As the show must go on, The Plaids continue to pursue their musical career in the after-life and are granted one day to return to seize their big moment in the spotlight.

“Forever Plaid” is a light-hearted musical starring Emmett Hook Center performers as The Plaids: Clay Eaves as Francis, Robert Holladay as Jinx, Rick Stovall as Smudge, and Jeremy Yang as Sparky. The roles are a recap for Eaves and Holladay.
