During the 2023 ArtBreak Festival, wire artist James Marks worked with thousands of children to create this life size sculpture. The figure is named after Mark’s grandfather, Oscar Joseph Williams who was a fundamental influence in James’ career as a teacher and an artist.
James, ArtBreak and the Shreveport Regional Arts Council invite anyone who had their hands on this sculpture (and anyone else interested in experiencing him) to join us Wednesday evening!
For more than 40 years, Marks has been twisting and bending wire to make images, usually in the form of human figures. He has been teaching the art of wire sculpture for 20 years throughout the community.
The sculpture is currently on display at the Central ARTSTATION
