Let’s Talk About Trauma

Childhood trauma has profound psychological, physiological, and sociological impacts and can have negative, lasting effects on health and well-being. It’s important for community leaders and anyone who works with adolescents to reframe their perspective to be a trauma-informed perspective. Rather than asking “What’s wrong with this child,” we should be asking “what has happened to this child?”

This FREE event will feature a panel of experts that will lead a discussion and answer questions about these Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and their affects on development and behavior in children and adults.

The panel will include:

  • Clay Walker, Director of Juvenile Services for Caddo Parish
  • Chief Judge David Matlock of Caddo Parish Juvenile Court
  • Barzanna White, Ph.D, a District School Psychologist and School Climate Transformation Director
  • Bill Rose, Executive Director of CADA (the Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse)

5:30pm: Registration and refreshments
6:00pm: Program begins with panel presentations
7:00pm: Questions from the audience
