LightHouse Ensemble Presents: “Master Harold”… & the boys Auditions

Auditions will take place August 10th, 2019, 3pm at CoHab for Athol Fulgard’s play, “MASTER HAROLD”… AND THE BOYS.

An ordinary rainy afternoon in 1950s South Africa turns into a profound and life-changing experience for young, white Harold and his beloved black servants. A stunning masterpiece, one of the most powerful coming-of-age plays ever written, and still timely, still compelling, still unbearably moving.
This play takes place in South Africa during apartheid era, and depicts how institutionalized racism, bigotry or hatred can become absorbed by those who live under it, no matter the age….

CAST:
SAM: A middle-aged black African servant with a smooth accent who has helped to raise Hally since he was an infant.

WILLIE: A black African slightly younger than Sam. Willie and speaks in broken English & works alongside Sam as a servant.

HALLY: A 17 year old white South African whose mother owns the tearoom that Sam & Willie work at. Hally is moody, jumping from happy to sad & back to happy at any given moment.

Please bring 2 memorized monologues & be prepared for a cold reading if selected for round 2.
