What is the North Louisiana STEM Alliance?
The North Louisiana STEM Alliance is a community of practice recognized by the STEM Funder’s Network STEM Learning Ecosystems (www.stemecosystems.org).

What are STEM learning ecosystems? (from www.stemecosystems.org)
A STEM learning ecosystem encompasses schools, community settings such as after-school and summer programs, science centers and museums, and informal experiences at home and in a variety of environments that together constitute a rich array of learning opportunities for young people. A learning ecosystem harnesses the unique contributions of all these different settings in symbiosis to deliver STEM learning for all children. Designed pathways enable young people to become engaged, knowledgeable and skilled in the STEM disciplines as they progress through childhood into adolescence and early adulthood.

Our Goal: is to coordinate efforts of diverse stakeholders in North Louisiana to provide high quality Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education, including the arts, to all youth PK-16 regardless of zip code.

Our Mission: As a community of educators, parents and civic advocates, unified to connect students to the 21st century workforce, we focus on improving STEM education for our students through achieving math proficiency as well as increasing awareness of and access to STEM opportunities in the community.

Our Aspirations: North Louisiana STEM Alliance aspires to close the race, gender and income gaps through a robust STEM pipeline that includes the arts. Because of our work we aspire to reduce the remediation rates among our students, revitalize the economy and housing markets through intentional strategies and partnerships that yield meaningful results for our students, parents and the community at large.
