Public Art Workshop – Louisiana Percent for the Art

Artists –
Some of the more lucrative (but highly challenging) commissions for Artists come through the Percent for Art Program at the State of Louisiana. We really need trained, prepared Artists from NORTHWEST LOUISIANA to apply for these “larger” commissions. Please consider registering for this workshop that the State of Louisiana, Division of the Arts is producing. If the $35 registration fee to cover lunch and the speaker’s travel (dictated by the State/not Shreveport Regional Arts Council) is the deterrent for you, call John Lomax (318-673-6500) and let’s see how we can help!
Don’t miss this “gateway” to new opportunities!

Are you interested in the public art process? Want to increase your chances of being selected for a public art commission but don’t know where to start? The Louisiana Percent for Art Program invites you to attend a series of workshops that will provide you with the tools and necessary vocabulary to navigate the complex world of public art as well as offer guidance on the best practices for engineering and fabricating projects that meet and exceed expectations.
Led by award-winning public artist and designer, Joel Breaux**, all day sessions, designed for artists of any discipline who want to gain knowledge about the nuts and bolts of public art and placemaking, will take place at sites across the state where you will:

· Learn from experts in the field
· Make connections to other artists in your area
· Meet the leaders of the Percent for Art team

Following the lecture and discussion sessions, two-all day site visit field trips, planned at a later date, will introduce attendees to fabricators and engineers and will also include visits to nearby examples of public art/fabrication. *included in registration fee*
