Who doesn’t love trains? Come celebrate railroads and learn how Shreveport’s history is forever connected to the trains that moved materials and passengers through our city.

Join us to celebrate National Train Day on May 15 from 11 am- 3 pm at the Shreveport Railroad Museum, located on the grounds of the Shreveport Water Works Museum, 142 North Common St. 

This ONE DAY EVENT will feature TOURS, FOOD TRUCKS, TALKS, LIVE MUSIC, PHOTO DISPLAYS and MODEL TRAIN DEMONSTRATIONS. Enjoy a beautiful family event under our towering live oaks!
Talks – (In the Ozone Room)
1. History of railroads in Shreveport/Bossier – Dave Bland @ 11:30 am
2. The Importance of Operation Lifesaver- Don Kimmell @ 1:00 pm
3. The History of the McNeil Street Pumping Station- Dale Ward @ 1:45 pm
Warren Caileff, Jr. will be on hand with B&W train photos
Operation Lifesaver will be handing out literature, pins and key chains.
Red River Valley Railroad Historical Society will be selling caps, and t-shirts, signing up members and have artifacts to show.

Live Music by The Joanitones, under the towering oak trees,  from 11:30- 2:30

FOOD TRUCKS, 10am- 3pm-
Hot Dawg Hut Food Truck, Yeero, Yeero (Greek food) and Frios Gourmet Pops!
The event is FREE and open to the public. Families are encouraged to attend. Feel free to bring your well-behaved, leashed pet!
**Parking will be across North Common Street from the museum entrance. Look for the Parking Signs.
**There is a small parking lot on the grounds for those with Handicapped tags and other physical issues.
