XIU XIU began in 2002 to try to make music for people opposed to and opposed by the horror and disquiet of life. Led by frontman, songwriter, composer, and vocalist Jamie Stewart. Their music is intensely personal, with lyrics that draw from Stewart’s personal experiences.
