December 3-9, the State of Louisiana and Downtown Shreveport are asking people to say ‘thank you’ to our local community of visual and performing artists, filmmakers, writers and other creators and art-related businesses by supporting our thriving LOCAL cultural economy.

Sunday, Dec. 3- Opening of Color: Outside the Lines @ Norsworthy Gallery

Come meet gallery owner and abstract artist Christine Bailey at the opening of her new one-woman show at Norsworthy Gallery, 214 Texas St.

Wed., Dec. 6- Downtown Holiday Artwalk

Join us on Wed., Dec 6 from 5-9 pm for an artwalk on steroids!  Multiple venues, free shuttles, dozens of artists, a giant book sale, live music, a light show, fun for all ages. Drink specials for adults, make you own custom jammie tee, get a picture with Santa.  Artists art markets and more, more more.

Wed.- Sun., Dec. 6-9 HOLIDAZE at Artspace

artspace, 708 Texas Street, is the site of HOLIDAZE through Dec. 16. The walls will be covered with art for sale, there will be up to 20 artist booths and giftspace will be filled with custom items, perfect for holiday gift-giving. Each Thursday night there are special events, from Tablescapes to learning to mix the perfect, artful martini!

 

Thurs., Dec 7, The Colors of My Life: Art by Susan Duke

Join friends of admirers of Susan Duke, of her amazing and beautiful art and her tenacity in fighting a cancer that has her down, but not out. Susan has discovered that cancer treatment is pricey and in order to purchase art supplies, she needs to sell some of her beautiful creations (for wonderful prices)! Come look, purchase and celebrate the spirit of this remarkable, courageous and upbeat woman.  Thursday, Dec. 7 5:30-8 pm, Central ARTSTATION, 801 Crockett Street.

Friday, Dec. 8- The Man Who Invented Christmas

Enjoy our art house theater, Robinson Film Center (617 Texas Street) for The Man Who Invented Christmas. The movie tells of the magical journey that led to the creation of Ebenezer Scrooge (Christopher Plummer), Tiny Tim and other classic characters from A Christmas Carol. Come along with Charles Dickens (Dan StevensDownton Abbey) as he mixes real life inspirations with his vivid imagination to conjure up unforgettable characters and a timeless tale. Friday, Dec. 8- Shoji Tabuchi Christmas Show

Join friends at the beautiful Strand Theater at 8 pm, Friday, Dec. 8 to hear the one and only Shoji Tabuchi. A former Bossier City resident, his music includes country, bluegrass, big band, Cajun, Broadway and movie tunes, pop, swing, classical, and even some Led Zeppelin! An exciting addition to the show has been the rhythmic phenomenon of the Japanese Taiko drums.
