I Think We Will Be Fine From Here is a solo exhibition of art by Joey Slaughter. His works are explosions of thoughts, snippets of conversations, weavings of words and lyrics – a visualization of communication. They are busy in reference to the business of our lives.
Slaughter’s work explores how a simple conversation is absorbed between people, how they’re connected, and what the conversational wavelengths would look like. The main idea is to create abstractions from conversations if you could see sound waves from analogue and digital devices passing through and around people. The result is chaotic, yet beautiful.
He currently lives in Ruston, LA, and is Associate Professor of Art at Louisiana Tech University. Slaughter is the Executive Director, Friends of Ruston Skatepark
