C.E. Byrd Centennial Celebration WeekendThe C.E. Byrd Alumni Association has organized a once-in-a-century celebration to honor the many students and community members integral to the school’s 100 year legacy. Were you once a Jacket athlete? Perhaps you were more of a social butterfly, or focused mainly on academics. No matter your individual interests, the weekend of June 5–7 has an event sure to be a hit with Byrd students past, present, and future. We’ll kick off the festivities Thursday evening with the Hall of Fame Induction Dinner honoring the fourteen 2024/2025 Hall of Fame Inductees. Then Friday starts bright and early with a Golf Tournament at Querbes hosted by the Letterman Association. At the Robinson Film Center, you’ll be able to view our new C.E. Byrd Centennial Documentary at showings every hour on the hour 11am-8pm. Friday night we’ll take over Texas Street in downtown Shreveport with a Street Party Through the Decades! Six separate establishments along Texas Street will host the decade class reunions. Come join your decade (or visit another!) at one of these locations:
- 1950s and below will meet upstairs at Abby Singer’s Bistro inside Robinson Film Center
- 1960s will meet at 421 Texas Street
- 1970s will meet at The Missing Link
- 1980s will meet at Rhino Coffee
- 1990s will meet at Noble Savage
- 2000s and after will meet outside of Fatty Arbuckle’s in the Red River District under the Texas Street Bridge
We want to make it easy to drop in that evening, so lots of security will be provided, valet will be located at the Robinson Film Center, golf cart transportation will be up and down Texas Street and shuttles from the weekend’s hotel blocks at the Hilton and Sam’s Town will be running. On Saturday morning, the Byrd Alumni Association will host a 5K walk/run at the school to start the day! Runners, walkers, families and spectators can enjoy some exercise and entertainment throughout the neighborhood surrounding Byrd. The run will begin and end at the school and surrounding streets will be closed for the race. Afterwards, stick around Byrd’s campus to visit with former faculty, graduates and friends. There will be historic memorabilia displayed throughout the school for viewing. We will have an assembly at 10:30am and a pep-rally after that highlighting all of the fun and school spirit we remember from our days at Byrd! Finally, the weekend will wrap up with our 3rd Ultimate Reunion! Everyone is invited to help us celebrate 100 years of Byrd! There will be food, a band, AND a DJ to keep the party going.
