Marketing Manager

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position requires excellent communication skills (written and verbal), the ability to work with media representatives, downtown stakeholders, and representatives of other downtown organizations.  The position also requires excellent graphics ability to design and create various marketing materials including digital, social media, and print platforms. 

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Maintaining and updating a comprehensive database of downtown property owners and businesses
  • Work with Deputy Director to provide content and graphics for weekly eBlast
  • Provide data analysis on marketing metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and strategies
  • Generate regular reports on social media, website traffic, and campaign performance
  • Collect and analyze data related to downtown foot traffic, business performance, and event participation
  • Use data insights to identify growth opportunities and ways to improve marketing strategies
  • Collaborate with local businesses to gather insights on customer trends and performance

Website Maintenance & Updates:

  • Ensure website content is accurate, engaging, and reflective of current initiatives
  • Implement SEO strategies to drive website traffic and improve online visibility
  • Monitor website performance and provide improvements as needed

Social Media Management:

  • Develop and execute social media strategies across multiple platforms
  • Collaborate in creating and curating engaging content that highlights Downtown Shreveport’s events, businesses, and initiatives
  • Manage social media campaigns, monitor analytics, and refine strategies to boost engagement and reach

Partnership Outreach & Community Engagement:

  • Support relationship-building efforts with downtown businesses, local organizations, and community partners
  • Collaborate on joint marketing initiatives aimed at promoting downtown events and attractions
  • Assist in developing strategies to strengthen community partnerships
  • Provide support in developing education opportunities for downtown businesses

Graphic Design & Content Creation:

  • Design promotional materials, including flyers, banners, and graphics for social media
  • Collaborate with vendors for both print and digital production needs

Campaign Management:

  • Assist in planning, executing, and managing marketing campaigns to promote downtown events, businesses, and projects
  • Track and analyze the performance of campaigns, adjusting tactics for better results
  • Ensure campaigns are completed on time and within budget

Public Relations & Media Outreach:

  • As needed, draft press releases and media advisories to promote DDA initiatives, events, and downtown stories
  • Collaborate with local media outlets to secure coverage and increase visibility for downtown activities

Event Promotion & Support:

  • Organize and manage DDA events
  • Promote the events like Artwalk and Lunch On Us
  • Provide marketing strategies that enhance event attendance and public engagement
  • Provide onsite support during the events

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Working knowledge of WordPress, Mailchimp, and Meta Business Suite
  • Knowledge of graphic platforms such as Illustrator, Photoshop, or Canva.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft platforms such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

Salary commensurate with experience.

MARKETING/EVENT PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

Marketing Assistant Duties:

  • Assist Marketing Manager as needed with social media strategies across multiple platforms
  • Assist in the creation of engaging content that highlights downtown Shreveport’s events, businesses, and initiatives
  • Help with management of social media campaigns, monitor analytics, and refine strategies to boost engagement and reach
  • Assist with the preparation of media releases and marketing initiatives aimed at promoting downtown events and attractions
  • Assist Marketing Manager in collaborating with local media outlets to secure coverage and increase visibility for downtown activities
  • Provide other assistance to Marketing Manager and other personnel as needed and directed

Event Production Assistant Duties:

  • As directed by the Marketing Manager, help with the organization and management of DDA events
  • Assist with the production and promotion of events such as Artwalk and Lunch & Discover
  • Assist Marketing Manager in providing marketing strategies that enhance event attendance and public engagement in DDA events
  • Provide preparation for DDA events
  • Assist with onsite support during DDA events
  • Provide other assistance with production as directed by the Marketing Manager

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years’ experience in marketing and event production management
  • Demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks as directed
  • Strong communication skills, especially in writing and public speaking
  • Good interpersonal and relationship building skills

This position is a part-time, season position, approximately 32 hours per week.  The position runs through the end of 2026 and may be renewed with the start of events season in 2027.

Streetscape Maintenance Crew Laborer

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains grounds and street amenities of public property performing any combination of the following tasks: Landscaping, painting, litter and refuse collection, and disposal and general maintenance. Weekend and night work is sometimes required.

SPECIFIC TASKS

Specific tasks include, but are not limited to:

Tree pruning, fertilization, mulching, insect and disease control, and refuse removal. Planting bed maintenance, pruning, fertilization, mulching, weeding and cultivation, insect and disease control, and plant replacement. Irrigation system monitoring replacement.

Cleaning and painting tree grates. Cleaning brick and concrete pavement. Cleaning and maintenance of antique light globes and maintenance of banner arms. Cleaning lenses and bulb replacement in tree well uplights. Cleaning and painting benches and litter receptacles. Placement, replacement and cleaning of plaques, historical markers, special event banners, flags, and signs.

Setting up tables, chairs, PA systems, staging, general clean-up, signage, and other tasks related to special events.

Special equipment used will include, but not be limited to: operation of articulating electric boom lift, power tools, movers, leaf blowers, weed eaters, street sweeping machines, and power washers.

Other duties as assigned by competent authority.

  • Demonstrates ability to perform assigned tasks.
  • Knowledge of conversational English, grammar, spelling, and arithmetic.
  • Possess a valid Louisiana driver’s license. Driver’s license is a condition of continued employment.
  • Eyes, hand, and foot coordination.
  • Spatial and form perception.
  • Ability and willingness to follow instruct
