Sci-Port Discovery Center is excited to invite the community and media to the official ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening of its newest exhibition, Film-Port, on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 3:30.

Film-Port celebrates both the science and the art of filmmaking. This dynamic exhibit offers our visitors a hands-on look back at major technological and storytelling advancements in cinema, while highlighting the rich history and significant role the film industry has played right here in North Louisiana.

Designed to inspire aspiring filmmakers, storytellers, and curious minds of all ages, Film-Port features a variety of interactive stations and educational highlights:

● Film History & Cinema Techniques: Explore the fascinating evolution of filmmaking and visual storytelling methods.
● Storyboarding Station: Learn how directors and production teams plan visual narratives before bringing them to the big screen.
● Hands-On Green-Screen Technology: Work with genuine green-screen FX tech to see live background transformations.
● Stop-Motion Animation: Design and build custom stop-motion shorts.
● Interactive Zoetrope: Step back in time with a working pre-cinema Zoetrope to experience how static images create the illusion of motion.
● Foley Sound Studio: Experiment with foley sound production—the art and science of creating realistic audio effects for movie scenes.
● Red Carpet Experience: Walk the red carpet and snap a memorable photo to celebrate the occasion.

“We are thrilled to be working with our partners at the Shreveport-Bossier Film &
Entertainment Commission and Robinson Film Center to bring the science behind movie
magic to life,” said Dianne Clark
