Join us on Sunday, March 8th, from 1pm to 3pm at the Emmett Hook Center Theatre, 550 Common St. across from Asian Gardens. We hope you will join our efforts to unite our community to bring back this important space in ways that educate, inspire, celebrate our diversity and provide fun for ALL! How we do that can be made better with your input.
Located at 800 Texas Ave. at Common St. and Milam in Downtown – Shreveport Common, the Asian Gardens is quiet space full of surprising plants, art and at one time lively Asian Festivals. The Gardens were created by the ASEANA Foundation in 2005. After caring for the gardens over two decades, the ASEANA nonprofit dissolved. While the City/SPAR still maintains the small urban park, without the care of volunteers the grounds, beds, art and other amenities have weathered. This is a chance for us – Shreveport Common with the Shreveport Common Think Tank volunteers, City of Shreveport and YOU our community – to come together to revitalize the gardens.
