
Robinson Film Center to Present Screening of Lead Belly: The Man Who Invented Rock & Roll
Celebrated documentary explores the life and legacy of blues pioneer Huddie “Lead Belly” Ledbetter
Shreveport, LA- Robinson Film Center (RFC) is proud to present a special screening of Lead Belly: The Man Who Invented Rock & Roll, a captivating documentary that delves into the extraordinary life and enduring influence of legendary blues singer and songwriter Huddie “Lead Belly” Ledbetter. The screening will take place at 6 p.m. on January 18, with a Q&A and live musical performance after the movie.
The film offers an intimate portrait of Lead Belly through rare archival footage, electrifying musical performances, and interviews with iconic artists including B.B. King, Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, Harry Belafonte, and others. Audiences are taken on a remarkable journey through Lead Belly’s life, from his ability to sing his way out of two prison sentences to his eventual induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, revealing the resilience, artistry, and cultural impact of a true American original.
