The Shreveport Police Department Downtown Unit Mounted & Bicycle Support Group recently submitted grant applications on behalf of the Shreveport Police Department (SPD) Special Response Team (SRT) Drone Unit, to assist them in seeking additional funding to acquire essential equipment that will enhance the team’s capabilities and further improve public safety in the Shreveport community.
The Shreveport Police Department’s Special Response Team Drone Unit plays a critical role in ensuring public safety and responding effectively to various incidents. With the evolving nature of law enforcement challenges, there is a growing need to adequately equip the unit with the latest technologies and tools to address these complexities. These grants will allow more drone technology, accessories, and training.
This month the Mounted & Bicycle Support Group was honored to receive Spark Good Grants totaling over $4,000 from three area Walmart stores and Sam’s Club in the Shreveport/Bossier City area. Special thanks to Walmart Supercenter-2536 Airline Drive, Walmart Neighborhood Market, 412 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, Walmart Supercenter, 9550 Mansfield Road, and Sam’s Club,7400 Youree Drive.
The SPD Downtown Unit Mounted & Bicycle Support Group believes this investment in our SRT Drone Unit will yield significant benefits in improved public safety outcomes and enhanced officer effectiveness.
