It’s a remarkable accomplishment for businesses, especially restaurants, to be able to weather the ups and downs of the economy, changing tastes and constant new competition. The shutdowns and occupancy restrictions caused by Covid-19 did not help, leading to the closures of even long-time, deeper-pocketed chain restaurants across the country.
That’s why this birthday is a special event. On Monday, May 24, Blind Tiger, downtown’s stalwart eatery situated on the corner of Spring and Texas Street at the foot of the bridge, will celebrate their 29th. When you look at the list of yearly anniversary gifts, this year we would be giving Blind Tiger tools, but it appears they already have the tools they need to keep patrons coming back.
At 29, Blind Tiger has outlived every restaurant downtown with the exception of Ernest’s Orleans, and two private lunch/dinner clubs- the Petroleum Club and the Shreveport Club. Our congratulations to the owners and employees of Blind Tiger, and our thanks to them for hanging in there in the good times and bad. Here’s to 29 more!
