Robinson Film Center has a big week in store and the beauty is, all their activities are rain or shine! Coming off a great inaugural Latino Film Festival (Festival De Cine), downtown’s theater is transitioning into what will likely be the next box office hit, Air, starring old friends Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.
The movie is based on the real life story of Nike and the shoe that made history. Critic Roger Ebert says “Air” bristles with the infectious energy of the man at its center: Sonny Vaccaro, who’s hustling to make the deal of a lifetime. Air starts Friday at RFC.
On the second screen is a locally-made movie by Bespoke Works filmmakers Paul Petersen and Alexander Jeffery. You Have No Idea is a documentary about one family’s story of raising a son with autism in a small southern Arkansas town, both the challenges and the beautiful moments. The movie is one of the local events part of National Autism Awareness Month, April 1- April 30.
A Woody Allen favorite, Midnight in Paris, returns to RFC for one night only on Tuesday, April 11 as part of the theater’s popular Date Night series. On Date Night you can bring your special someone for dinner, trivia, and a show for one price, $22 for RFC members, $29 for non members.
But wait, as they say, that’s not all! On April 13, RFC revives RFC Trivia. Got a mind for movies and a memory for trivia? See how you stack up against others at Abby Singer’s Bistro at 6:30 pm. Eat, play trivia and win fun RFC prizes. Call 318.459.4125 to reserve a table.
The same night is the popular StoryTellHERS Regional Filmmaker Spotlight. This is the night to celebrate and enjoy the works of short films by and about local women. StoryTellHERS is at 7 pm and features both the movie and a Q & A with the filmmaker. Tickets range from $8.50 to $10.50.
This is just the toe in the water for all RFC has planned. See what’s coming here, and stay updated by becoming an RFC member!
