Significant updates are on the horizon for Louisiana’s Historic Tax Credits program, set to take effect on January 1, 2025. These changes are designed to enhance efficiency and ensure the program continues to support historic preservation projects effectively.

One key update is the requirement to submit credit reservation requests concurrently with Part 2 applications. Additionally, the annual credit cap will be reduced to $85 million, and unused credits will no longer roll over to the following year, making timely applications essential for securing funding.

To take advantage of the current guidelines, applicants must submit Part 2 applications, including credit reservations, by December 31, 2024. These updates reflect a continued commitment to preserving Louisiana’s historic structures while fostering transparency and strategic planning.
