You have probably read the bad news that Parish Taceaux is closing as of Saturday, Oct. 24. The restaurant at 708 Texas Street has been a mainstay downtown for five years with their trendy taceauxs and flavorful drinks. Their ‘Taceaux Tuesday’ was a draw for downtownies who loved the creativity, flair and friendly vibe Parish Taceaux provided. Obviously, this year has been tough for a lot of reasons- COVID 19 shut down events, and thus, catering. It first stopped entirely, then limited the number of persons able to dine inside, and many people still feel uncomfortable eating out. Oil and gas took a dive and employees moved on, either fired or furloughed during the Covid shut down or leaving on their own accord for new opportunities.
The Brits have a saying, ‘The Queen is dead, long live the Queen.’ It seems weird on the face of it, but what it means is that one monarch is gone, but another will follow. That is also the case with the restaurant space at 708 Texas. We know that something else will follow. It is a remarkably cool space in a great location with a giant sidewalk for outdoor seating, a canopy to protect you from the weather, and adjacent to Artspace. The restaurant will be the ‘go-to’ for artspace event catering, which, in a normal year, is prolific. All of the equipment in the restaurant was purchased new just five years ago and stays with the space. There is a built- in bar and loads of natural light. If you are interested, we can put you in touch with the folks to talk to.
We wish the owners, investors and employees of Parish Taceaux the best and love that we had the opportunity to get to know – and work with them. We hope future endeavors will be amazingly successful, and we look forward to what is to come.
