It’s a sure sign that spring is coming when the fabulous Japanese Cherry Trees on the Milam Street side of the Caddo Parish Courthouse begin to bloom.
The two trees, one to the east and the other to the west of the Milam-side doors, are grown from seeds from the Emporer’s Royal Gardens in Japan…so one could say they are descendants of royalty! Maintenance officials take loving care of the wonderful trees and tell us the tree on the east (above) always blooms first because it gets more sun. The tree on the west (below) always lags a bit.
The trees will stay bedecked with their colorful blooms for several weeks UNLESS there is a heavy rain, which will cause many of the blossoms to fall. If you would like a look, drive or walk by. They should be at their pinkest profusion in another week or so.
There are more beautiful things to see around and in the Caddo Parish Courthouse. Take a look, here.
