Congratulations to three downtown watering holes that are now (more) famous, after getting an online shout out by MyBartender.com.
Lake Street Bar at 315 Lake Street, The Noble Savage at 417 Texas Street, and Fatty Arbuckles in the Red River District all make the cut as the most popular places in the region to gather for an adult beverage. All three have a warm and laid-back feeling and all also offer food options on a mostly regular basis. Fatty Arbuckles is downtown’s ‘Cheers’ bar, a warm and clubby atmosphere that is small and inviting.
Owner Chase Boytem prides himself on his collection of fine whiskies and Fatty’s Bourbon and Barbecue Festival this past weekend was an overwhelming success.
Fatty’s expansive patio (the Red River District) also hosts entertainment that ranges from New Orleans’ brass bands to burlesque.
Fatty’s Monday night Steak Night is not to be missed. Fatty’s is open seven days a week, into late night/early morning.
Lake Street Bar‘s Frederick Ellis has multiple nights each week that appeals to wine lovers, jazz aficionados and live music acts. Come for ‘Cocktails and Conversations,’ ‘Wine Down Wednesdays,’ ‘Taco and Tequila Tuesdays’ ‘Martini Social Thursdays’ and a host of other fun gathering options.
Weekends up the pace a bit with DJ Fridays and a variety of party events on Saturday and Sunday. They recently added comedy to the lineup mix, too. Lake Street Bar is open Tuesday- Sunday.
The Noble Savage at 417 Texas Street is the largest of the three, and is also a full restaurant so there is no 21 and up requirement. The large permanent stage inside the Savage backs up to windows that open so the live music spills onto Texas Street.
Recently, Kix Brooks was the surprise musical entertainment, but even when big name country stars aren’t passing through, you will hear popular local bands like Magnolia Brown, Joe Nadeau, and jams by The Dirty Redd Band. There are also fun comedy and trivia nights.
The Savage has a full menu and is open Monday-Saturday for lunch, dinner and late night snacking. Their bar is expansive and their mixologists are always coming up with new and unique drink options. While there, you can purchase a branded tankard with your name on it.
Our congratulations to our three award winners! If you have not stopped by, here’s a great excuse to make it happen.
