RiverView Hall and Theater is a popular city facility used by traveling events, the Shreveport Opera, Symphony, Ballet and others. The city knew this popular venue was becoming tired and outdated and 14 months ago launched a project for needed upgrades. Visitors to the facility now will see ADA improvements, a refreshed and updated lobby, restrooms, theater house and orchestra pit. There will be new and improved seating layouts, upgraded lighting, fresh paint and an overall updated and fresh feeling that was lacking in the theater of old.
Patrons who have been waiting for the improvements will have a chance to experience them in person this Saturday as the Shreveport Opera presents the Man of La Mancha. This will be the theater’s ‘test drive.’
Man of LaMancha will be the first of MANY events to re-christen this important downtown space, so you will have multiple opportunities to see the improvements for yourself. The space is under the wing of Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation (SPAR) and it was they who handled oversight of a large project on an important building. Kudos to them for shepherding the process and returning RiverView Theater and Hall to use!
