The Remington Suite Hotel & Spa is the region’s premier boutique hotel and 
soon, it will be getting even sweeter. Over the years, the hotel has been the go-to lodging for many of the Hollywood film and movie stars that have spent time in Shreveport-Bossier. It was not unusual to be bellied up to the elegant lobby bar with Gerard Butler or be doing laps in the salt water pool with Morgan Freeman.
While it’s fun to be able to say that you slept in the same bed as Angela Bassett, what’s more fun is the Remington ‘experience.’ From the time you walk into the rustic brick and heavy timber lobby, you are treated like a star, whether you’ve been in movies or not. There is a reason why the Remington is consistently rated #1 of all hotels in the area by Trip Advisor.
Another reason to enjoy the Remington is the suites themselves. The current suite options run the gamut from standard to grand with everything in between. Each suite is different in theme, color and feel.
That was not enough for Remington owner Newt Dorsett, who decided that his next addition to the property would be something completely over the top. By all accounts, he has succeeded.
Within the next 30 days or so, an entire wing consisting of just four suites will be available to rent. These suites are pretty incredible, and on a recent tour, elicited many comments of the ‘I want to live here’ variety. Sorry, no can do. These spaces are for shorter-term arrangements. Why are they so cool? Well, the suites make great use of the historic bones of the building, and their brick walls and hefty ceiling beams are shown off in great detail by the large windows that let in natural light and show off the city just outside.
Bathrooms are top of the line with double sinks, huge walk-in showers and claw foot cast iron tubs for lingering. The layout is perfect for groups, wedding parties and friends wanting a spectacular getaway or staycation. Two suites on the south side of the building can connect (if you wish) into a giant ‘party floor’.
The two suites on the north and south are separated by an expansive media/game room and huge commercial kitchen, perfect for a guest chef, who can whip up a wonderful gourmet meal for you to eat while sitting on the rooftop deck overlooking the downtown skyline.
The rooms will range from $500-up for the night, but for the most deluxe accommodation this side of L.A., we think they are worth it.
