We offer competitive [inexpensive] Permit Parking in some slower parts of Downtown

When we launched the Park Mobile App on May 1, 2017, we were trying to figure out the best way to address our outdated parking meters.  The Park Mobile App allowed us to provide several new, user-friendly options for the citizens of Shreveport.  It allowed for multiple payment options, including credit card, PayPal, Apple-Pay, Google Pay and the Park Mobile Wallet, so parkers were no longer limited to using coins.  It provided an alert to remind parkers that they only had 15 minutes left in their parking session and then that parking session could be extended (up to the maximum time allowed) without having to run back out to the car.  Park Mobile also offered some options that we had not anticipated.  It allowed parkers to pay for parking at spaces without meters and offered a web-based, self-service Permit Parking system that did not require a printed hang tag.

On-Street Permit Parking was something we had not previously considered, but digital permits, via Park Mobile, enabled us to offer low-cost permit parking on streets at the outer boundaries of the Central Business District where there was little to no activity.

Usually Permit Parking (long-term parking) is only offered at off-street parking facilities- surface parking lots and/or parking garages.  These locations are typically less conveniently located and can accommodate larger numbers of vehicles.  Our permit parking is on-street, meaning it is on the curb of the street, where parking meters are traditionally used (see Zone 2 and Zone 3 maps below).

With ParkMobile we were able to establish some On-street Permit Parking zones on less convenient streets (blocks) with little to no traffic.  These Permit Zones allow us to offer more diverse parking options and encourage greater use of underutilized parking spaces in those locations.  The digital permit system is automated, so users don’t have to come to the office.  They can just sign up on-line.  Their license plate is used as their permit, so no hangtag is needed.

These spaces operate much like a parking lot. If you purchase a permit, a space will be yours from 8 am-5 pm, Monday-Friday. You will not have to move every 2 hrs., you will not have to feed a meter, you will not be ticketed in this zone.  The spaces will not be numbered, they will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Permits for ZONE 2 & ZONE 3 are available, now!  On-street Permit Parking will cost $25 (plus a $1 convenience fee for each month). You may also purchase spaces on a quarterly basis. Three months will cost $60 (plus a $1 convenience fee for each month), a savings of $15 over a month-to-month purchase!
