Shreveport, LA – In response to recent incidents in downtown Shreveport and the anticipated increase in evening and weekend activity, the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and Downtown Shreveport Development Corporation (DSDC) have partnered with the Shreveport Police Department (SPD) to strengthen safety measures in the downtown area.

As part of this collaboration, the DDA and DSDC have provided SPD with the use of a DSDC-owned property to serve as a centralized location for the department’s Mobile Command Unit. This location will allow for increased visibility and rapid response capabilities in an area that has seen heightened activity in recent weeks.

“This effort reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring that downtown Shreveport remains a safe and welcoming place for everyone,” said Cedric B. Glover, Executive Director of the DDA and DSDC. “Public safety has been one of our top priorities, and we will continue working closely with SPD, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, and other local partners to develop long-term strategies that support the growth and vitality of our downtown.”

The DDA emphasizes that while recent incidents are concerning, they do not define downtown Shreveport. The district continues to be a dynamic and growing community where residents, visitors, and businesses come together daily to live, work, and explore.

“We encourage the public to keep supporting our local businesses and events,” Glover added. “A few bad actors do not represent the spirit of our downtown or the people who make it thrive. There are countless positive things happening here every day.”
