Shreveport, LA– Robinson Film Center (RFC) has launched a new fundraising initiative, Is This Seat Taken?, inviting community members to leave a lasting mark while supporting the future of independent film, education, and cultural programming in Northwest Louisiana.

Thanks to a generous gift from the Noel Foundation, RFC is replacing the seating in both of its theaters, the Willis Knighton Theater (126 seats) and the Kennedy Theater (46 seats), enhancing comfort, design, and the overall moviegoing experience.

Through this campaign, supporters can sponsor individual or multiple theater seats and have an engraved plaque affixed in their name, or in honor of a loved one, family, pet, company, or foundation. These plaques will remain in place for a minimum of 5 years, creating a meaningful and visible legacy.

“Robinson Film Center exists because this community believes in the power of film to educate, connect, and inspire,” said Wendell Riley, Executive Director of RFC. “Naming a seat is a tangible way for patrons to show that belief, while directly supporting the spaces where film education, festivals, and shared cultural experiences happen every day. This past year over 16,000 patrons sat in our theaters, so these plaques will be seen by many people across all walks of life.”

Seat Naming Opportunities include:

·       Current plaque holders may renew their plaque for $750 (5-year term)

·       New seat sponsors may name a seat for $1,000 (5-year term)

·       The Sweet Spot: A limited opportunity to name one of the most requested seats on a larger plaque for $2,500, offering maximum visibility (5-year term)

Current plaque holders have exclusive renewal priority through January 18th, 2026. Remaining seats will open to the general public beginning January 19th, 2026, but the center is accepting reservations before the 19th on a first come, first served basis.

Proceeds from the campaign support RFC’s year-round programming, including film education initiatives serving more than 6,000 students annually, community screenings, and major festivals such as Louisiana Film Prize, OUTNorthLa, and CineNoir.
