If you’re into vintage, recycling, or just like to stay fashionable on a budget, downtown has a new spot for you. Weekend Thrifter has just opened at 719 Common Street at the Fairmont. The shop is generally open the 2nd and 4th weekends of the month from noon -4 pm, but just to be sure of hours, check their facebook page.
Weekend Thrifter began with owner Brittny Davis’ love of shopping and her desire to save the environment. “The venture is a perfect mesh of the two,” she says. “We get to recycle amazing garments which would normally be added to ever growing landfills thanks to the world of fast fashion.”
Weekend Thrifter is primarily an online resale shop specializing in second hand fashion, accessories, and revamped home decor accents. Brittny can help you in mixing both the old and the new.
Says Brittny, “Each weekend that we are open shoppers will be greeted with a different layout and a consistent flow of new merchandise to choose from. The goal is to eventually have the store open every weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). For now we are operating as a pop up every other weekend until we grow a more established clientele.”
If you aren’t able to make it to the store, Weekend Thrifter also offers direct sales via social media and a soon to be completed e-commerce site. You can follow them on Facebook or Instagram (@weekendthrifter )
The trendy little resale shop is co-located with visual artist/photographer Victor Sims and A Pretty New U, a body paint, special effects and makeup artist.
