The five week run of the Rainbow City installation is now gone, but the impressive numbers of people who came to experience the inflatables, art market, special events and bouncy houses are coming in. Shreveport Regional Arts Council is crunching the numbers, but initial tallies show that 5,600 students from surrounding schools came on field trips, 2,400 trotted during the annual Sportspectrum Turkey Trot, 12,000 people signed the visitor logs, and 1,300 signed up to be in the opening day parade. This does not include the zillion drive by’s, photos and Internet postings about the fun. The current plan is that in March, the pavilion/stage and other amenities will be constructed. The park will reopen in the fall with 30 weeks of programming planned annually. Stay tuned for more!
