The banking industry has changed drastically over the past few years and the continued push to online banking will likely mean ever more branch closures and consolidations regionally. Capital One Bank has seen a significant downsizing over the past few years going from a large presence in downtown Shreveport to – after April 27, 2021- no public presence at all.
The bank is alerting their customers that the downtown branch, located on the ground floor of the Louisiana Tower, 333 Travis Street, will close as of April 27. The letter sent to customers states that banking can be done online, via mobile phone or at a Capital One ATM. In person, customers are being directed to one of the three Shreveport-area branches that still have a full line of customer service options.
A number of banks continue to have full service branches in downtown after April 27. Those include Citizens National Bank (330 Marshall Street in the Beaird Building), Origin Bank (308 Market Street), Bancorp South (418 Travis Street in Mid South Tower), Iberia Bank (301 Texas Street), Regions Bank (333 Texas Street), Business First Bank (800 North Spring Street), Community Bank of Louisiana (400 Travis in the Beck Building), Home Federal Bank (624 Market Street) Red River Bank (601 Market Street) and the Barksdale Federal Credit Union (519 Market Street).
