Question:  “The space I parked in indicated I had a 1-hr. limit.  I was only parked for about 40 minutes, so why did I get a ticket?”

Answer:  You were parked in a Commercial Vehicle Loading Zone.  These zones were created to be used, exclusively, by commercial vehicles needing to load and/or unload.  Per Section 90-299 of the Shreveport City Ordinance, use of commercial vehicle loading zones is limited to trucks, delivery vans or automobiles with commercial license plates. There is a 60-minute limit to commercial loading zone usage.  In addition to commercial license plates, we also acknowledge vehicles with professional commercial signage (wrapped or painted) on the vehicle or affixed with a door magnet to utilize the zone for 1-hr. to load or unload.

If the vehicle is not a commercial vehicle with commercial plates or professionally applied commercial signage, a ticket can be issued even if the vehicle is parked there for less than one hour.   If the vehicle is a commercial vehicle, a ticket can be given if the vehicle remains in the zone for more than the 1-hr. limit. Commercial Vehicle Loading Zone spaces can be identified by the yellow painted curb that indicates it is a “Commercial Vehicle Loading Zone” and it has a “1-hr. limit”.  The spaces may also have signage that indicates it is a Commercial Vehicle Loading Zone with a 1-hr limit.
